Camino de Santiago Day 6

Tuesday, April 12

Estella to Los Arcos

21 km / 13 miles

Good morning! After a full nights rest and sleeping in (until 6:45 am), our donativo (donation based albergue) host prepared us coffee and toast before setting off. 100% chance of rain was in the forecast all day today so we prepared accordingly: warm clothes, ponchos, and backpack covers. We were prepared for the worst, hoping for the best.

And best did we get. We hiked through towns, hills, farms, and forest with only a few sprinkles and clouds. And to top it off, within the first 2km, around 8:30 am, we stopped at Bondegas Irache, a vineyard with a water fountain, and for the lushes, a delicious wine fountain. Yes, at 8:30 am, but it’s the Camino. Don’t judge.

Regular water fountain.
Wine fountain.

The rest of the day was pretty “easy.” Rolling hills and a few towns and beautiful sweeping views of the farms and countryside. The only downside was how muddy and slippery the trail was. Aside from that, I made it into Los Arcos at 12:30 in the afternoon.

Ready for a shower, some hand-done laundry, and lunch!

When the only restaurant in town is closed, this is dinner.

Spent:

Cappuccino €2

Wine €1.5

Albergue €8

Total €11.5
